STUDENT COUNCIL
The Student Council’s main purpose is to represent the student body, thereby creating a better understanding between faculty and students. The Council consists of an Executive Board, and representatives from the Senior, Junior, Sophomore, and Freshmen Homerooms. Meetings, open to the entire school, are held every two weeks.
The Student Council is responsible for:
1. The Honor Code
The Saint Dominic Academy Honor Code was promulgated during the 2001-02 academic year at the initiation of the student body and remains in effect. A copy of the full document has been separately circulated. It calls for commitment to the values of respect, pride and honor and for the defense of these values through appropriate review by the Honor Council when these values appear to have been violated by a member of the school community. It calls for each individual: to maintain the integrity of the learning and testing process, both within and outside the classroom; to honor the work, possessions and ideas of others; and to show to one another the respect that each person deserves. Three faculty members and two administrators are members of the Honor Council, along with three students from each class year.
2. The Spirit Committee/Social Committee
The Spirit Committee/Social Committee is a committee with a two-fold purpose: to keep the students informed of all extra-curricular activities and to keep the spirit of SDA alive. The Committee is divided into groups, each associated with one specific club. All students are encouraged to join the Spirit Committee/Social Committee.
