Volleyball
October 21, 2011:
Volleyball is 8-7 and finishes the regular season today at Lincoln who they revisit Monday in the playoffs. SDA is the county's 11 seed. They will similarly have a state match the week of Halloween.
This year’s SDA Volleyball Team has new young faces. There are many talented freshmen who made the team, including Jessamyn Bonafe’13, who is one of the captains for the Blue Devils. The girls are hard at work practicing everyday and giving it their all at games. Although Dom’s isn’t presently on a winning streak, they don’t give up and continue to put up a fight to win. Lead by coaches Miss Takiyah Townsend and Mrs. Josielyn Valbuena, the girls are in for a good season and plan on giving all opposing teams a run for their money.
This team is definitely like a family. We always have the best time and we have learned to work harder together. These girls work so hard in practice that it definitely shows in the games. Each girl contributes something special to the team and each makes the team better as a whole. Miss Townsend and Mrs. Valbuena make being on the team so worthwhile. Although they do make us work hard, they also know how to make any game or practice a good time. There have been practices where the whole team and the coaches have been in tears from laughing so hard. There have also been days when after practice there was not a dry t-shirt in the room.
