SDA Seniors Receive Pre-College Awards

At the Saint Dominic Academy Underclass Honors Assembly held recently, five members of the Senior Class were acknowledged with special recognition awards earned during their junior year.

One student received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal for her outstanding academic achievement in the study of mathematics and science.  She was also recognized by The University of Rochester with The Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award for her excellent achievement in Science.

The Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology presented by The University of Rochester was awarded to one student for her outstanding academic achievement in the pursuit of innovative approaches and an appreciation for the possibilities of technology.

A third award from The University of Rochester, the George Eastman Young Leader Award, recognized a student for her outstanding academic achievement and leadership. Another received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award for her commitment to Social Justice.

   The fifth senior received The St. Michael’s College Book Award for Scholarship and Service recognizing outstanding students who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism and leadership in their community service endeavors.  In addition, the student must also be an active member of the National Honor Society.
