STEM Showcase Winners Receive Awards

In addition to the three previously announced Medal winners at the 2019 Jersey City Medical Center/RWJ Barnabas Hudson County STEM Showcase which was held at Liberty Science Center on Monday, March 11, SDA students received three more special awards for their presentations at the showcase. All awards were presented at a ceremony held on Wednesday, May 1 at New Jersey City University. Freshman Angelina Taite and sophomore Julianna Sabia were each awarded the Dr. Irving Schulman Memorial Award. 7th grader Elizabeth Rodriguez was awarded the 2019 Broadcom Masters Nominee Award in addition to the BRONZE medal she received for her project, “A Flashlight: Batteries Not Included.”

Charlotte Hennessey ’21 who won a GOLD medal for her project: “Can External Factors Consistently Be Linked to the Development of Specific Eating Disorders?” was also awarded a four-year scholarship to NJCU.

A SILVER medal was awarded to freshman Nicole Fitzgerald for her project which studied “The Inaccuracies of Nut Labels.”
