MEDQUEST is a medical course of study. Students who are interested in ultimately pursuing a medical/healthcare career are encouraged to make application to the program. Students in MEDQUEST ultimately pursue careers as physicians, nurses, veterinarians, physician assistants, biochemical engineers, dentists, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, occupational therapists and more. At the end of four successful years of study, students receive a certificate as Electrocardiography Technicians and are eligible to take the NHA Electrocardiography Technician Examination. At the end of four years in MEDQUEST, students receive a Medical Assistant Diploma in addition to a high school diploma. After graduation, those students who have received a Medical Assistant Diploma are eligible to take the NHA Medical Assistant Certification Examination. Students in MEDQUEST must maintain good academic standing in all subject areas, have exemplary behavior, and comply with the MEDQUEST attendance policy in order to be invited back to MEDQUEST on a yearly basis. Some outside requirements are also in place such as non-paid Clinical Practice shadowing a medical professional in a MEDQUEST Director approved site. Students participate in hands on work in areas such as vital signs, assisting with examinations, pharmacology and phlebotomy. Additionally, students learn medical terminology, medical law and ethics, communication and business office procedures. The ultimate goal of MEDQUEST is to provide students with a strong medical foundation for college and to graduate with a profession. |
