The Rising Leaders Summer Program has been a staple program for Saint Dominic Academy. We are pleased to continue to offer our Rising Leaders Program for girls entering 4th to 8th grade.

Our program aims to develop our young ladies with leadership skills while exploring different interests and making connections with their peers.

HSPT PREP – MATH*8th Grade only Intensive preparation for COOP/High School Placement Test (HSPT)

ART STUDIO Students will learn the elements and principles of design and apply them using paint, pen, and paper.

SPEECH AND DEBATE Students will further their presentation skills and learn tips and tricks about public speaking while learning the art of debating.

GIRL POWER Students will become more self-assured through empowerment exercises and group discussions. They will learn how to maintain a healthy self-image and how to become a positive citizen in their communities.

FITNESS FUN Students will participate in fun activities and games.

STEM Students will use a robust robotics platform to design, build, and program a solution to solve an existing problem.

Rising Leaders Summer Camp Program: $1,200

HSPT ONLY (8th grade only): $500.

 “Exploration into the Summer” “The Farewell Tour”
A branch of our Rising Leaders Program is our Field Trip weeks. Exploration into the Summer will consist of (4) different field trips that will explore the world that we live in.

We will travel to the different areas of New Jersey for our students to experience the world that is around them.

Dates: June 24 – June 27 (Monday – Thursday)

Enrichment Courses

Saint Dominic Academy Enrichment Courses aim to provide High School students an opportunity to strive for academic excellence. Our enrichment courses allow students a unique opportunity to explore their interests, challenge themselves, and prepare for the upcoming academic school year.

July 1, 2024 – August 1, 2024 (Monday – Thursday)

(50 minutes each)

$300 per class

Course Descriptions:

Foundations of AlgebraSTEMHumanities Research LabSAT Math Prep
Mon. – Thurs.
8 a.m. – 8:50 a.m.

This course is designed primarily for enhancing math skills, specifically algebra concepts. It enables students to work at their own pace and
aim to increase the speed and accuracy of their performance. Students will gain a better understanding on creating mathematical
concepts in preparation for course work and standardized testing.

8:55 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

This hands-on program is intended for those students interested in taking honor science classes. Students will learn the basics of
building and programming robots using vex pieces and ROBOTIC software during the first two weeks. Afterwards, the students will be
introduced to the engineering design process to solve problems and understand the influence that creative and innovative design has on
our lives.

10:40 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

This course offers a foundation for research and writing across a topic of the student’s choosing. Students learn to distinguish between web searches and research. Critical thinking and analysis will culminate in an academic paper of the student’s own design. Students will be shown print and digital archives, and digital tools for high school and college, and refine the use of research materials in their arguments.
Artificial intelligence tools will be countered with original writing by the course participants. It is an introduction into how to participate in seminar discussions. Recommended for any student interested in college level study.

11:35 a.m. – 12:25 p.m.

This course offers students skills and strategies to complete the SAT Math portion of the test. Students taking this course should already
have had classes that covered Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and some Pre-Calc concepts. Students will receive practice tests and an
in depth content review in order to prepare for the SAT Math testing.

 

 

Saint Dominic Academy accelerated credit courses provide students with a 60-hour credit course to excel in their high school progression. See below for attendance policy. (Each class is 3 hrs. per day.)

This course is intended for the student looking to excel in the math discipline. This course will include textbook, lessons, and homework that will give the students the ability to complete HS level Pre-Calculus. Students must have completed Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II to register for this course.

Mon – Thurs. | 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

This course is intended for the student looking to excel in the math discipline. This course will include textbook, lessons, and homework that will give the students the ability to complete HS level Geometry. Students must have completed Algebra I to register for this course.

Mon. – Thurs. | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

This course is intended for students looking to excel in the AP History discipline. Students should have completed US I and US II before taking this course.

Please note, we will not offer the AP test at the end of summer. We will provide students of this course with the opportunity to take AP Government testing in MAY 2025.

Mon. – Thurs. | 12:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

This course is intended for students looking to excel in the science discipline. This course will include textbooks, lessons, and homework that will give the students the ability to complete HS level Physics.

Attendance Policy: Because of the nature of this accelerated course, an attendance policy is in place to make sure the students meet the required hours to receive credit. Students are permitted (1) absence from the class. Any more than (1) absence may result in the student not receiving credit for the class taken.

 

The College Application

(Rising 11th-12th grade) The College Application process can be stressful, but with this bootcamp we will prepare you for process. Students will have an understanding of the Common APP, FAFSA, and NAVIANCE. Students will also have the opportunity to complete their college essay and be prepared for the college interview.

Time: 9a.m-10:30a.m.
(90 minutes classes each day)

Successful High School Strategies

(8th-10th grade) This bootcamp will provide students with necessary skills to be successful in high school. We will review time management, goal setting, and self motivation techniques.

Date: August 5 – August 8

Time: 9a.m.-10:30a.m.
(90 minutes classes each day)

Deadline to Register: August 1st
