On December 20, The Most Reverend Thomas A. Donato celebrated the Advent Liturgy with Saint Dominic Academy students, faculty and staff at Saint Aloysius Church. Bishop Donato is shown below with the new Eucharistic Ministers of Saint Dominic Academy.

Saint Dominic Academy students participate in “Cookies and Cram”On Tuesday, January 10, the Saint Dominic Academy Link Crew hosted current members of the freshman class at their traditional “Cookies and Cram” study session. The program ran from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. and included private and group tutorials in Algebra, Geometry, English, Physics, History, Religion, Spanish, French and Chinese. Cookies, pizza, and other refreshments were served.
The goal of the program, one of many sponsored throughout the year by Link Crew, is to assist freshmen in preparation for their very first high school (mid-term) exams.
Built on the belief that students help other students succeed, Link Crew was established as a transition program, welcoming freshmen and then, throughout the year, helping them acclimate to the high school environment.
Each spring, selected members of the rising junior and senior classes are trained to serve as mentors and Link Crew leaders who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during high school. In addition to hosting orientation, they also provide academic and social support on an individual basis and through structured classroom visits, activities and special events. Faculty member, Mr. Eric Hawthorne, is the moderator of Link Crew.

The Academy held its 13th Annual SDA Leadership Awards Gala on November 17th at Nanina's in the Park in Belleville, NJ. Over 200 Dominican Sisters, faculty, alumnae, current and past parents and friends came to celebrate SDA and support the scholarship fund.
